Job summary
We have an exciting, Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist opportunity. The post holder will work within school-aged services across both Conwy and Denbighshire. Clinical sessions to be agreed on appointment depending on current service needs. This is a 0.6 (3 days) fixed term position for 12 months. The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this role.
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with experience of working with children and young people with speech and language disorders. Experience of working with school-aged children, in a range of settings is essential for this role. The role would be suitable for Speech and Language Therapists keen for development opportunities.
The successful applicant will have excellent time and caseload management skills, as well as an ability to build a strong rapport with parents and the wider workforce. They will demonstrate the ability to work effectively with colleagues. The successful applicant will have an interest in service development.
Main duties of the job
- You will work with Team Leaders and colleagues in school-aged Speech and Language Therapy services to ensure equity, efficiency and dynamic service delivery.
- You will work with a varied Paediatric caseload, working with school-aged children, in a range of settings including Primary and Secondary mainstream schools.
- You will be responsible for assessing, and designing intervention for children on your caseload.
- You will have the opportunity to work directly with children and young people as well as provide training, advice and support to school staff and the wider workforce.
- You will work in partnership with families and professionals to support the needs of the children on your caseload.
- You will be involved in projects which contribute to service development.
- You will offer support to colleagues and partner agencies to develop knowledge and skills in working with children with speech and language disorders.
The Welsh language requirements for this post are essential.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to maternity cover. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
