Clinical Workshop Technician, Posture and Mobility Service
An exciting opportunity has arisen for one Band 4 Clinical Workshop Technician to join the Posture and Mobility Service at our Posture and Mobility building in Bryn y Neuadd Hospital, Llanfairfechan. The service covers a wide geographical area in North and Mid Wales.
The work will be mainly based in the workshop areas and will involve the manufacture of custom seating, other medical devices and the adaptation of mobility equipment. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of clinical, technical and administrative staff.
Main duties of the job
The key objectives of the post are:
- To manufacture custom medical devices and accessories in a variety of materials (metals, plastics and foams) using a range of hand and machine tools, digital systems including computer aided design (CAD) and 3D printing. Instructions are in the form of verbal and written information as well as using own knowledge of design
- Supporting clinicians in their assessment of people and fitting of devices in the clinic setting or in the home, school and other locations
- Transporting equipment between sites using service vehicles
- Monitoring workflow and manufacturing of foam carves using our CNC machine to make custom seating
- Supporting the upholstery staff with digital record keeping
This post offers an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their manufacturing skills and will require adaptability to meet a wide variety of clinical and technical requirements.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Level 3 BTEC/SCOTVEC or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience/qualification
- Evidence of further training and experience in manufacturing techniques.
Desirable
- A record/ portfolio of knowledge and training achieved, e.g. manual techniques, materials, mechanical skills.
- Certified in TIG Welding Steel and/or Aluminium
Experience

- Experience of manufacturing using workshop machinery and equipment, including milling machines, lathes, with a thorough understanding of health & safety policies and procedures.
