The Day Surgery Ward within Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital is an exciting and dynamic unit where our care values are at the forefront of everything we do.With a vast spectrum of surgical specialities coming through the ward you will have plenty of opportunities to extend your knowledge.
Study opportunities will be available to you and this includes the support of a dedicated Practice Educator based within the surgical remit.We are recruiting Band 5 surgical nurses who have initiative and good communication skills. The successful candidates will be nurses who believe that the patient experience is central to the care they deliver. We are looking for individuals who have a flexible approach to work, innovative and dynamic in outlook with a keen sense of team working and eager to learn.You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of care within theward whilst caring for a group of patients under the direction of the senior nurse. You will be expected to undertake link nurse roles that you have shown an interest in and auditing activities as delegated by the senior nurse.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities:
1.1 To assess, implement and evaluate individualised patient care needs of those patients within any area of Day Surgery unit utilising research findings as appropriate.
1.2 To establish a close working relationship with colleagues and other staff working in the unit,; Ward, Recovery, Operating Theatres, Trauma, Surgical Admissions
1.3 To carry out all nursing procedures and practices as recommended by the Trust and to adhere to local policies as laid down in the Day Surgery Unit.
1.4 To maintain competency in all required areas of Day Surgery care.
1.5 To maintain legible and accurate nursing records and care plans in accordance with current practice and ensure confidentiality in record keeping.
1.6 To promote and maintain effective, up to date communication with patients, relatives, colleagues and all other members of the MDT.
1.7 To promote patients' health and education.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
