Job summary
You will assist and support the head of occupational health and wellbeing as part of a multidisciplinary team in the co-ordination, provision and delivery of an effective high quality occupational health & wellbeing service to the health board and external contracts. The post holder will manage and co-ordinate the provision and delivery of an effective and high quality OH Counselling service as part of the overall Staff Wellbeing Support Service offer.
The post holder will, as a team leader use independent judgement to provide overall management and leadership of the mental wellbeing and counselling team working across the service to manage day to day operations, strongly interlinking with the broader elements of the Staff Wellbeing Support Service (SWSS).
Provide professional specialist occupational health, wellbeing and counselling advice to its users and will be responsible for continuing responsibility for aspects of complex and sensitive care, management and advising on mental wellbeing management and rehabilitation of clients into the work force. The post holder will also be required to hold a certain level of risk and responsibility in case / referral management and crisis intervention, ensuring that staff are supported timely into relevant support services.
Main duties of the job
Lead on clinical care pathways, planning and development, implementation and co-ordination of research based programs of support and education to clients. Compiling and delivering the same, in line with national guidance. e.g. aspects of Health Promotion / Occupational Health and Safety policies / Department of Health national guidance and recommendations e.g. Stress management standards, managing PTSD, Cognitive behavioural therapy guidelines. Relevant Public Health Issues etc.
Manage complex and sensitive situations by co-ordinating and linking with other relevant multidisciplinary professionals or agencies and taking any other interim measures that are necessary to achieve service provision
Provide counselling/crisis intervention and where appropriate refer to specialist services. Restructuring caseload to respond, assess & manage urgent requests e.g. users with self-harm / public interest situations with ethical considerations. Understand and follow the crisis referral pathway and collaborate with key partners as appropriate.
