Job summary
We have exciting opportunities for a motivated and dynamic junior sister/charge nurse to join our gastroenterology team on Ward 9 YGC Glan Clwyd hospital for a fixed term of 6 months to cover secondment.
Ward 9 Ysbyty Glan Clwyd is a 24 bedded mixed sex ward for nursing general medical patients with a sub speciality of acute and chronic gastroenterology disorders. Our patients are supported by an extremely knowledgeable team of doctors, ward nurses, specialist GI nurses, gastro unit, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and pharmacists. Our ward philosophy is "What matters to us"....Is to ensure that we improve patient's experience and outcomes by concentrating on ... "What matters to them?"
We specialise ininflammatory bowel disease such as Chrons, ulcerative colitis, GI cancers, nutritional issues, non-alcoholic and alcoholic liver disease.
We manage these conditions with various interventions including:Ng tube placement and management, intravenous infusions, endoscopy and PEG insertion, liver biopsy, alcohol withdrawal management and education, ascitic drains, radiological studies and interventions.
Main duties of the job
Ward 9 are very much a work family who support each other and always go over and above for our patients. We are a friendly and approachable team who treat all patients as we wish to be treated, ensuring safety, confidentiality, dignity and privacy at all times.
Teamwork is our priority, priding ourselves on providing evidence based, holistic and individualised care for our patients and their families.
Our nurses are encouraged to continue to develop and progress to their full potential. With support will be able to insert and care for nasogastric tubes, shadow specialist nurses, undertake IV additives training, phlebotomy and cannulation as well developing leadership skills and the opportunity to work towards a masters all whilst developing a sound knowledge of gastroenterology disorders and treatment.

This post is fixed term / secondment for until 03/05/2024 due to the needs of the service.
