Clinical Service Manager Ophthalmology

Job summary
- Responsible for the leadership and management of ophthalmology services across the acute site.
- The post holder is required to provide leadership, nursing service development and management to the designated specialities to provide efficient and effective management and delivery of the service
- Responsible for ensuring effective capacity and demand management across service areas, in order to meet activity and waiting time directives,
- To ensure that the service reflect the Health Board's corporate objectives, operational policies and ministerial priorities. This includes NICE guidelines, GIRFT, and Eye Care Measures.
- Responsible for ensuring outcome measures are developed and implemented within areas of service responsibility.
- The post holder will work in partnership with external agencies including charitable and independent sectors, across a variety of settings e.g. acute hospitals, primary care, community and care homes.
- The post holder is required to be an autonomous clinical leader and expert in the designated specialty), providing both clinical support and intervention directly to patients in a variety of settings; and supervision, guidance and support for the nursing team's and the wider multidisciplinary teams who care for patients, families and carers.
Main duties of the job
- Act as an advocate for the patients ensuring equity of service Have the freedom to act using judgment to work autonomously as a highly skilled practitioner often making cdecisions influencing both patient care and service provision
- Work collaboratively and co-operatively with clinical colleagues to develop services and quality of care delivered
- Represent the service at clinical Multi Disciplinary Team Meetings
- The post holder will be involved in the creation and continued monitoring of standards, protocols and guidelines for the BCU Opthalmology Service.
- They will contribute to the design and implementation of strategic planning, organisational and service developments, staff training and support initiatives within the service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
