Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full time Band 6 Junior Sister to join ACU Ward at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Registered Nurse with an interest in infection prevention and be passionate about delivering high standards of care.
The unit works closely with all members of the MDT focusing on effective and safe discharge of our patients. We provide the unique opportunity to work within different areas to develop and extend skills and knowledge in a supported environment. Some of the areas included are the Cardiac Pacing team performing pre and post operative care and time in the theatre to assist with the implantation procedure, and the Chest pain nurses team.. We also promote and encourage strong working relationships across MDT working and offer excellent career opportunities. We provide regular on and off ward training days to help career development. We utilise the experience and knowledge of the Cardiac MDT for training and development purposes.
The post holder will support the Senior Sister with the leadership and management of the provision of care within the ward providing a visible leadership presence. You will be responsible for ensuring that high standards of clinical evidence based care are continuously achieved and monitored, ensuring a positive learning environment.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will possess excellent clinical skills in relation to all aspects of care, combined with a caring attitude and good interpersonal and communication skills with patients and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
Takes responsibility for a ward or equivalent sphere of nursing, in the absence of the person who has continuing (24 hour) responsibility at Band 7.
Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluating programmes of care. Responsible for managing a group of staff in the absence of the Ward Sister.
You will be supported bythe Ward Manager,Practice Development Nurse and Matronto undertake professional and personal developmentopportunities, andbe supported to undertake postgraduate academiccourses.
The ward offers different learning opportunities as well as a chance to develop managementand leadership skills.
The post holders will be expected to deliver care of the highest standard and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. As a Clinical Sister / Charge Nurse you will ensure that you carry out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high qualities, current evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided from admission through to discharge.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
