Job summary

  • To provide a specialist service through carrying a caseload requiring highly specialist skills as an autonomous practitioner, with responsibility for implementing the occupational therapy process in an effective and efficient manner
  • To enable Occupational participation and Occupational goal attainment for children promoting health, well-being and Occupational participation outcomes
  • To co-ordinate the child's care across a team approach, contributing the design of the care plan, allocation/delegation of work and review

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner following professional codes of conduct and ethics. Carrying a varied highly specialist caseload in an area of paediatric practice, which will include children with highly complex and co-morbid needs.

    The post holder will work at clinical level responsible for the day-to-day design and delivery of Childrens Occupational therapy service, within the Neurodevelopmental team for East area, supported through supervision.

    Clinical activities can take place in a wide range of settings including hospital, clinic and community settings, schools and children's own homes.

    The post holder will provide clinical support for Occupational Therapy staff and where appropriate supervision to Occupational Therapy staff, in addition the post holder will provide training and clinical advice to staff from other disciplines as a specialist in Paediatric Occupational Therapy. The post holder will support the learning and development of others including colleagues and peers.

    The post holder will contribute to the design and service development projects within team/agencies and may contribute specialist skills to service developments of the Neurodevelopmental Service, and the development of projects within the organisation in relation to Neurodevelopmental conditions. This involves attending meetings and contributing to audit, evidence based practice research and service evaluation
