Job summary

This new post joins eight other full-time Consultant Cardiologists. The department has an ethos of strong teamwork through which each consultant takes ownership of their patients but seeks specialist advice from within the team or externally whenever they require. They also work closely with the Allied Health Professionals at each stage of the Patient Pathway. The post holder will therefore share in general cardiology inpatient and outpatient care and will participate in the non-interventional acute cardiology rota.

Although the department is part of the Acute Medical Directorate the cardiologists have no commitment to general medicine.

The post is based at the North Wales Cardiac Centre (NWCC) at Glan Clwyd Hospital which has responsibilities for patients across the Health Board. The North Wales Cardiac Centre is part of the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) and provides cardiology services for the population of North Wales (approx. 700,000). It is staffed by consultant cardiologists based in all three District General Hospitals along with consultants from radiology providing cardiac intervention and imaging. This post will be based at Glan Clwyd Hospital.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
