Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Based at Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan

A Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) is required for Glan Clwyd Hospital, central North Wales, part of Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board. This is a very exciting time for maternity services at Glan Clwyd Hospital, with the recent completion of a major £100,000,000 + hospital redevelopment which included the opening of the North Wales Sub Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Centre. In parallel with this development of the on-site neonatal services, the obstetric service at Glan Clwyd is also developing a hub to provide a network of maternity services across North Wales, delivering specialised maternity care for premature births and complex pregnancies requiring special neonatal care.

As part of the Health Board's strategic collaboration with Bangor University, individuals with an interest in teaching and research who can demonstrate and agree a possible contribution to the School can be considered and nominated for recognition through the University's process for granting honorary titlesand help to deliver our shared vision for the North Wales School of Medicine and Health.

Main duties of the job

This post will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to experience all aspects of obstetrics & gynaecology to provide a solid foundation of experience within the specialty, or enhance their previously gained proficiency. It would also provide an ideal introduction to UK practice for those with experience from abroad who are interested in working in the UK. The department is actively involved in research and teaching, being consistently ranked excellent for undergraduate student placements from Cardiff Medical School. There is a rolling PROMPT training programme and support for those undertaking the MRCOG examinations. The Clinical Fellows and SAS doctors have their own dedicated facilities.
