Job summary

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in North Wales is a dynamic and patient focused organisation. The Health Board is looking for Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), who will be expected to work in partnership with the Surgical / Orthopaedic multidisciplinary teams, (Consultant Surgeons, Oncologists, Senior Nurses, Theatre and Radiology teams to form an effective clinical service. It is expected that in conjunction with their clinical role then ANP will implement national programmes and initiatives relevant to their setting, working closely with other CPG advanced nurse practitioners colleagues, wards and tertiary centres ensuring consistent service delivery.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner working within Primary Care, including (but not limited to):

  • Working as an autonomous, advanced practitioner, with an extended scope of practice to work with the team to deliver care; providing a high standard of specialist assessment and treatment of patients. Using evidence-based principles/ current best practice and advanced specialist skills and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Keeping comprehensive, accurate records that support the clinical reasoning process in the assessment and treatment of all patients, which meet departmental, Health Board and Professional standards.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, supporting other team members by sharing clinical knowledge and experience; and developing clinical services.
  • Ensuring all clinical practice is based on current research /evidence, developing and undertaking audit and research as appropriate.
  • Demonstrating through day-to-day action a contemporary approach to Primary Care which is patient-centred, prudent and team-enabling.

Previous knowledge of working within a primary care setting is desirable for this position.
