Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Band 6

An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit an enthusiastic and innovative Early Years Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work across Flintshire.

You will work as part of the Early Years Integration and Transformation Project. This is a programme funded by Welsh Government to facilitate an Early Years system that enables children, pre-birth to age 7, to get the best start in life; its aims are to transform and integrate services to enable a more seamless and combined service for both the child and their families.

Main duties of the job

Our opportunity is for an SLT:

  • with a can-do attitude who is motivated, and enthusiastic with innovative approaches to developing services for children and their families.
  • who thrives as part of a team. The role aligns closely with Flying Start services and you will work with professionals across Health, Local Authority and childcare sectors
  • who has a passion for devising engaging and interesting training packages and evaluating outcomes

What this means:

  • You will independently manage a small but varied caseload of children up to the age of 7, including those with additional needs, working closely with core SLT services.
  • You will have the opportunity to further your skills in service development initiatives.
  • You will build on the successes achieved to date including the roll out of the TalkBoost Programme with Education Partners and continue the highly innovative work of Flintshire as recognised by Welsh Government and shared on their 'Talk with Me' webpage.
  • You will work with parents and a range of other professional multi-disciplinary groups and stakeholders across a variety of settings.
  • You will have the support of a Band 4 TI.
  • The SLT department offers a wide range of opportunities for CPD and is committed to providing excellent levels of support and clinical supervision including in-service training days.
