We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity, for 3 Advisors in Manual Handling to join our Health & Safety Team across the 3 sites in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board
The post holders will assist the Manager for Manual Handling in providing the delivery, and the evaluation of, those who attend Load and Patient Handling training provided to all BCUHB employees and University Students while on placement and caring for our patients.
The role also includes completing DSE assessments for agile workers via Skype/Teams.
The role contains an advisory element which will include giving advice and guidance to colleagues within BCUHB with the overall objective to reduce the risk of injury from manual handling across the organisation.
We are looking for a self-motivated team player who has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. Applications are invited from enthusiastic persons committed to providing effective high quality training in this area of expertise.

Main duties of the job
To plan and deliver corporate people and inanimate load handling training courses to staff from across the University Health Board (UHB) and health care science students from Universities on placement. With the Manual Handling Manager, ensure that the UHB complies with legislative requirements to train and assess the competence of staff, and to reduce the risks associated with moving and handling activities. Establish a training programme that addresses identified training needs and meets the requirements of the Core Skills for Health Framework and the Revised All Wales NHS Manual Handling Passport and Information Scheme (Passport).
To provide UHB employees and those within their care with professional ergonomic advice relating to manual handling issues. Provide ergonomic advice and consultancy with the aim of minimising associated risks to all staff groups, patients and carers on manual handling issues, work related activities, and equipment installation as required under current legislation. Promote and implement the Passport and other relevant UHB policies, along with the use of safer manual handling practices with the aim of reducing accidents to staff and patients and improving quality of care.

Essential
- Qualified / registered healthcare professional e.g. nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, radiographer etc.
- Highly specialist knowledge of Manual Handling.
- Good level of IT skills including Word, Power-point Spreadsheet, Publisher and Databases.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, written and demonstration skills.
- Good time-management with an ability to keep a training session on schedule, Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and the risk assessment process and their application to manual and patient handling in the workplace.
- Knowledge of the Health Board's Manual Handling Policy and procedures, and any other relevant policies and procedures e.g. sickness / absence policy, incident reporting policy etc.
Desirable
- Have, or be working towards an accredited post-registration course in patient handling
- Recognised Teaching or training qualification eg. FETC, PGCE
- Patient handling trainers course which meets the requirements of the National Back Exchange inter-professional framework and standards for training.
- Relevant health & safety course e.g. IOSH or NEBOSH
- European Computer Driving Licence or similar qualification.

- Experience as a registered healthcare professional in a healthcare setting where patient moving and handling activities and equipment were required.
