About us
Wrexham Maelor Hospital is a district general hospital in North East Wales serving a catchment population of 300,000. It is situated on the outskirts of Wrexham. The catchment area extends beyond Wrexham to include parts of Flintshire, Denbighshire, Powys, south Gwynedd, Cheshire and Shropshire. Wrexham is the largest town in North Wales, having a thriving and diverse industrial centre and also being the market town for a large rural hinterland. With the decline in the local coal and steel industries there has been a steady progression towards light industry in the area, including electronics, pharmaceuticals and plastics. North Wales has excellent dual carriageway connections to the main motorway system. Chester is 10 miles away by dual carriageway and both Manchester and Liverpool are about 45 minutes from Wrexham by car.
