Job summary
The Deputy Team Leader will provide strategic and operational support to the Team Leader, assuming full accountability for service delivery in their absence. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining rigorous standards of patient care through the expert assessment, planning, and evaluation of clinical pathways. As a clinical lead, they will drive quality assurance, champion evidence-based practice, and mentor team members to foster professional growth. All duties will be performed in strict adherence to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and established clinical governance frameworks.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Operating within the Monmouthshire Borough as one of five core teams, the Usk and Raglan District Nursing Team delivers integrated care, featuring an embedded frailty and rapid medical response service. Aligned with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board's Clinical Futures Strategy, this role is central to our mission of providing 'care closer to home' by strengthening community and social care partnerships to achieve excellent patient outcomes. We are seeking an inspiring, self-motivated deputy team leader to provide expert clinical interventions and managerial oversight within the district nursing service. The successful candidate will support the Team Leader in leading a team of community nurses, fostering a culture of mentorship and clinical excellence. Applicants must possess significant community nursing experience and either hold the District Nurse Specialist Practitioner Qualification (SPQ) or be actively working toward its attainment.
