Clinical Practitioner Psychologist – CAMHS Eating Disorder Service

Job summary

We have an opportunity for a Clinical/Practitioner Psychologist to join the ABUHB CAMHS Eating Disorder Service. We are an enthusiastic and supportive team comprising mental health and paediatric nurses, occupational therapists, family systemic therapists, psychiatrist and dietitians alongside support staff, we see children, young people and their families with a range of eating difficulties and our clinical work is informed by the Maudsley approach as appropriate, we offer a range of individual and group based activities and put the needs pf the young people at the centre of our work. We are seeking a motivated and compassionate psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team supporting children, young people and their families living with disordered eating. The focus of this post will be supporting the more complex presentations of disordered eating, including ARFID type presentations, and children and young people presenting with disordered eating associated with co-occurring neurodevelopmental conditions and those for whom the Maudsley approach is not indicated.

Main duties of the job

This post will be working with CYPs and their Families. You will maintain close professional links with the wider child psychology team and will be professionally supported and managed within the Child and Family Psychology and TherapiesService.

In this role, you will provide psychological assessments, individual and group interventions, and develop/contribute to personalised intervention plans. You will collaborate closely with and offer training and consultation to dietitians, physicians, and other health, education and social care professionals. As a team we are working closely with Welsh Government and supporting national developments in Wales regarding service design and provision for ARFID and restricted eating.

You will have a passion for supporting young people, their families and systems, excellent communication skills, and experience in either eating disorder services or Psychology services for children and young people.

There is the possibility of additional temporary hours within the wider Child and Family Psychology and Therapies Service which can be discussed.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
