Colorectal Support Nurse

Job summary

We are currently seeking to recruit a highly motivated Registered Nurse to work within our Colorectal Department.

This is a permanent Colorectal Band 5 CNS support nurse post.

It could provide the successful candidate with experience to build towards becoming an expert practitioner in cancer care.

The post will provide support, education and experiential learning for a nurse to develop the practical and theoretical skills and knowledge to be able to deliver high quality cancer nursing care for patients with a cancer diagnosis and their families.

Under the direction of a Senior Cancer Nurse the successful candidate will co-ordinate and deliver effective quality nursing care by assessing the needs, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for a group of patients

They will develop clinical expertise in all aspects of the cancer nursing field, ensuring the highest possible standard of nursing care.

They will work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will gain experience working in Cancer services.

They will work within the Colorectal CNS services; experience will be gained by working across in-patient and out-patient areas.

The successful individual will have the opportunity to gain competencies and confidence in the assessment, management, treatment and psychological support of cancer patients and families.

The skills and experience acquired will incorporate chemotherapy knowledge, symptom management, radiotherapy treatments, advanced communication, end of life experience and skills in audit.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
