Pharmacy Assistant - Aseptic Services

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Assistant to join our Aseptic Services team. You will play a vital role in the pre-production, assembly and post-production stages of aseptically prepared medicines, helping us deliver a safe, timely and high-quality service for patients across ABUHB.

Working in cleanroom environments, you will support the manufacture of a range of aseptic products including cytotoxic medicines, TPN, and IV additives, all in accordance with GMP, Health & Safety and COSHH requirements.

You willsupport stock management, use pharmacy computer systems, and help maintain the safe and effective operation of the production unit.

You will be part of a skilled, supportive team delivering essential, life-impacting medicines. Full training is provided, with opportunities to develop skills in aseptic production, quality systems and technical services.

Main duties of the job

  • Assist in aseptic preparation of a range of medicinal products under supervision.
  • Assemble equipment, sanitise materials and maintain cleanroom standards, including wearing specialist clothing.
  • Carry out inspection, labelling, documentation and environmental monitoring tasks.
  • Support process validation, equipment verification and SOP implementation.
  • Maintain effective stock control, including rotation, waste reduction and secure handling of high-risk materials.
  • Use pharmacy IT systems for data entry, generating worksheets, expiry checks and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, ward staff and external teams, escalating issues appropriately.
  • Support preparation of emergency or non-commercially available products when required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential

  • Good standard of secondary education GCSE at C grade or above in Maths, English and Science (or equivalent qualifications) Level 3 science qualification (certificate, diploma, NVQ, A-level) or equivalent experience to meet General Pharmaceutical Council requirements

Desirable

  • Working experience in Pharmacy Experience working in a laboratory, cleanroom, or manufacturing environment

Skills and attributes

  • Computer skills to include word processing and data entry i.e., spreadsheets and databases
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate injections or prepare pharmaceutical products, and good hand-eye co-ordination
