An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cellular Pathology Department at ABUHBfor afull timeSpecialist Biomedical Scientist Band 6,working 37.5hrs per weekon a 12 month fixed term contract.
Basedatthe Royal Gwent Hospital, weare expanding our services and so the successful candidate would join us at a time of improvement and development.
Thesuccessfulapplicantwill showstrong leadershipskills and becommitted toworking successfully within a team,promoting the quality ethos in everything we do.
Excellent communication, interpersonalskillsand attention to detail arekey,as well as an experience of the value ofhighqualitytraining, Health&Safetyandunderstanding ofQualityManagement systems.
Technical skillsrequiredfrom the successful candidate will enable them to rotate around each of our sections; main lab, special stains, dissection, immunocytochemistry,andcryotomy.

Candidates should hold an accredited Degree in Biomedical Science, be HCPC registeredand haveattainedtheir Specialist Portfolio in Histopathology.
Main duties of the job
To undertake biomedical scientist laboratory duties within the lab, including specimen dissection,embeddingand cutting, special stain and immunohistochemistry techniques,and alsoto undertakethe specialist BMS duties of supervision, management,trainingand support of lower grade staff members.
The band 6 also provides operational support to the Band 7 team leaders - troubleshooting, problem solving and line managing in their absence.
This post is Fixed term for 12 months to meet the needs of the service, full time 37.5hours per week post, working Monday to Friday 08.30-17.00hrs.
