Job summary
This locum post comes during a period of Health Board-wide service reviews. The appointee will be based at the Royal Gwent Hospital (RGH), Newport, responsible primarily for effective service delivery within General Internal Medicine services on the RGH site with the support of consultant colleagues.

The Royal Gwent Hospital (RGH) transitioned into an Enhanced Local General Hospital maintaining an undifferentiated medical intake with an Acute Medical Unit and medicine specialities in General Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology and Geriatric Medicine.
Main duties of the job
This post has been created to facilitate the ongoing reconfiguration and expansion plans for the GIM needs in line withincreasing demands.The post holders will be actively involved in the ongoing development of services, with full and appropriate agreementwith the appointee and clinical director.We are in the fortunate position to be able to offer flexible job plans to meet needs of individuals whilst supportingservice expansion.The post holder will be qualified in General Medicine and may have a subspecialty interest. They should be either onthe Specialist Register or be within 6 months of applying to be on the Specialist Register.4It should be possible to support the special/subspecialty interests of the successful candidates. The existing consultantworkforce may flex their Job plans to accommodate the development needs of the newly appointed locum consultant.The number of total sessions (PA's) is 10.The sessional commitment will be reviewed with planned electronic job planning later this year. On call supplementwill be paid as per Welsh consultant contract.The post holder will make a very important contribution to provide strategic clinical expertise to the planning,
