Job summary
Assistant Resuscitation Practitioner - Band 6
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with a strong interest in resuscitation training to join the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Resuscitation Team as a Band 6 Assistant Resuscitation Practitioner.
We are looking for a motivated professional with a demonstrable interest in resuscitation, cardiac arrest prevention, and clinical education. You should be able to work independently while contributing effectively within a small, supportive team. A key responsibility of this role is teaching resuscitation skills to staff across the Health Board.
The successful candidate will be an NMC or HCPC registrant with extensive experience in acute care and the management of acutely unwell patients, ideally within adult Level 2 or Level 3 care environments.
You should ideally hold Immediate Life Support (ILS) Instructor status and be an Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider. If you do not currently hold ILS Instructor status, you must be willing to undertake this training within the first three months of employment. Relevant resuscitation experience is essential.
This post is based at St Woolos Hospital, but you will be required to work across other Health Board sites. The role involves transporting training equipment between sites, so the ability to do this efficiently is essential.
Main duties of the job
- Support the Resuscitation Team in delivering high-quality resuscitation training programmes to staff across the organisation. This includes ensuring compliance with mandatory Basic Life Support requirements and contributing to the delivery of Immediate and Advanced Life Support courses (adult, paediatric, and neonatal).
- Provide training to a wide range of staff groups, including medical, nursing, allied health professionals, and other employees who require resuscitation skills as part of their role within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB).
- Be confident and competent to work clinically across acute care environments, including attending cardiac arrest and resuscitation attempts when required.
- Undertake resuscitation audits with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, including the use of electronic data entry systems to ensure robust and reliable reporting.
- Undertake quality improvement projects relating to resuscitation, supporting service development and best practice initiatives.
- Assist in maintaining training equipment and resources, ensuring they are prepared and available for courses across multiple Health Board sites.
- Work flexibly as part of a small team and independently when required, supporting the delivery of the Resuscitation Service objectives.
