Job summary

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and well-motivated Band 5 Biomedical Scientist (Candidates who are not yet HCPC registered will be considered at annex 21 until HCPC registration is achieved) to join the Immunology team in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board at our Grange University Hospital site.

The Grange University Hospital has been designed to treat our most seriously ill patients, or those with significant injuries, and it is the designated trauma unit for Gwent.

The hub is in the purpose built, modern Blood Sciences laboratory at the Grange University Hospital, with the aim to deliver high quality Haematology, Coagulation, Immunology & Blood Transfusion services.

Main duties of the job

We welcome applications from suitably qualified Biomedical Scientists, who have HCPC registration and relevant experience in Immunology. We will also consider candidates who have not yet achieved their HCPC registration on an annex 21 (Trainee band 5).

Full time, part time or job share applications will be considered.

The post is a full time permanent role, covering 37.5 hours a week.

The post will be based at the Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran.

The department has full UKAS accreditation and is an approved IBMS training laboratory for Haematology, Transfusion and Immunology. Continuous professional development (CPD) and completion of an IBMS Specialist Portfolio (if required) is actively encouraged and supported.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
