Job summary
The Older Adult Psychology Service provides therapeutic and psychological interventions for adults aged over 65 years across Gwent with their mental health needs , alongside our colleagues in CMHT and Memory Teams in the Wider Older Adult Directorate. We also provide services for adults who have concerns about progressive cognitive decline.
Our Assistant Psychologists are integral to our service and will have a key role in providing structured assessments and interventions to people on an individual or group basis, including neuropsychological assessment. They also support the wider work of the psychology team, including audit and service development
Much of our work is delivered face to face across Gwent, and the ability to travel to support people at different team bases or in their own homes is essential.
Our Psychology team includes dedicated administrative support, assistant psychologists, arts therapists, a CAAP and practitioner psychologists, and we liaise with a range of multidisciplinary professionals in our work.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 24 months from start date due to funding. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
Main duties of the job
The Older Adult Psychology Service works across all five Older Adult CMHTs and Memory Assessment Services in Gwent, as well as within mental health inpatient and general hospital sites. We provide a range of interventions to people who use our services. Our aim is always to offer high quality, evidence based and formulation driven psychological interventions to enable people to live as well as possible.
The posts will involve delivering group based and individual psychological assessments and interventions, and assisting qualified Psychologists and Psychological and Arts Therapies in their roles. It will also involve the delivery of neuropsychological assessments with individuals.
Our Assistant Psychologists will also support data collection and reporting, and monitoring service delivery outcomes, and be involved in departmental service improvement projects. The successful applicants will benefit from high levels of support and high quality supervision throughout.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
