Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a fixed term Deputy Practice Manager to join our team at Tredegar Medical Practice.
The successful post-holder will have a good understanding of general practice and remain up-to-date, with all functions of the clinical system and their applications, plus national and local standards for primary care.
They will provide leadership and direction to the Reception & administration staff.
Co-ordinate and maintain compliance and development within the team.

Work collaboratively with stakeholders both in person and on the telephone.
To work with the roster coordinator for directly managed practices ensuring that the practice is fully staffed including procuring locum staff where necessary within agreed budget.
To attend Practice, NCN and Trust meetings on behalf of the Business Manager in their absence, reporting back to the management team.
Attend weekly meetings with the Operational Manager and directly managed practice team to update and discuss any challenges.
This is a fixed term contract for 9 months to cover services needs.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy Practice Manager has the delegated authority to manage the GP Practice within the policies and guidelinesagreed.
The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of the organisation, systems, expenditure, planning and co-ordination.
There is the need to exercise considerable leadership and initiative, and will have on occasion to work without precedent and develop new ideas and be prepared to assume business, finance and human relations management responsibilities if practice ceases to be managed by Local Health Board (LHB).
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The post holder will work with the to deliver effective leadership and management of the Managed GP Practice including delivery of patient services, management of the staff and buildings and delivery within agreed budget.
The post holder will ensure patient services are provided in a safe and sustainable way by appropriately trained and supported clinicians, this will include the commissioning of locums where required.
The post holder will ensure the team works together to deliver services and develop improved ways of working and will facilitate and run effective Practice and Staff Meetings to support this.
The post holder will ensure full and effective communication with the Health Board, following all appropriate policies and procedures.
The post holder will assure the Health Board that services are safe through regular audit and significant event meetings, including the invitation of appropriate consultants or health professionals
The post holder will support the delivery of the NCN and ensure the principles are actively embedded within the Practice Team.
Review the delivery of services provided by the Managed Practice and facilitate development of new models of service to maximise efficiency of services for patients and staff based on evidence of good practice.
Works with external agencies, third sector and primary care in collaborative schemes to deliver service development and improvement sharing best practice.
Support the development of models to modernise structures that support new ways of working and service development and improvement based on best practice.
Practice Lead in supporting the delivery of GMS contract, QOF and Enhanced Services requirements, including completion of the annual audits and other requirements therein.
Manage the delivery of practice improvements ensuring clinical engagement where required.
