Divisional Nurse: Division of Clinical Support Services

Job summary
The post holder will influence and contribute to Divisional and Corporate initiatives, particularly with respect to continuous improvement in patient care delivery and clinical quality. Providing assurance of proactive management of clinical improvement plans, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate or respond to identified risks.
They will be responsible for implementing national nursing policy and professional advice to the Divisional Director and General Manager on clinical nursing issues to ensure high quality and effective services within the Division of Clinical Support Services. The post holder will be expected to work proactively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the Health Board discharges its functions effectively and efficiently and professional standards are adhered to.
The post holder also plays a key role in working in partnership with local authorities, NHS executive, Welsh Government and third sector parties to influence policy development.
The post holder will be required to participate in the Health Boards on call arrangements.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job
- Provide nursing advice to the Divisional Director to ensure the division is working within the correct legislative and statutory nursing and clinical requirements.
- Provide vision and leadership with regard to the nursing agenda, taking the lead on the development of policies, care pathways and protocols ensuring implementation of strategies and policies throughout the HB.
- To direct, lead and motivate the Nursing team(s) to ensure a high standard of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure nursing activity is fully aligned to the business of the HB. This will include coaching and mentoring, resource planning, standard setting, performance management, team and individual development.
- Provide highly visible, transformational leadership, strategic and professional management, working with the Senior Management Teams, service leads and clinicians in the development and delivery of the service improvement and modernisation agenda. Sharing successful strategies Health Board wide.
- Oversee the provision of a modernised, patient focused service by providing innovative, pro-active advice and support to the organisation on professional nursing matters
- Ensure that the HB's aims and objectives are clearly communicated to the staff within the team and that the divisionalnursing function is proactive and influential in its contribution to the HB's strategic and operational plan.
- Lead the teams to ensure a culture of continuous quality improvement and professional excellence.
