Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Gastroenterology Directorate for a band 3 Assistant Hepatology Practitioner. The post holder will work as part of a team that provides Hepatology nursing services to patients within an adult community/Hospital setting.
The post holder is expected to work within defined protocols and clinical competencies with supporting base knowledge and scope of practice, as set out in the job description.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be under supervision from the lead Hepatology/Hepatitis nurse for the Hepatology service. They will be in direct (face to face) or indirect contact via phone/email.To work independently providing care for Hepatology patients within ABUHB hospitals and community.The post holder will have key relationships with the lead nurse for Hepatology/Hepatitis, consultant Hepatologists across ABUHB. Also will have working relationships with other ABUHB agencies, community Drug and Alcohol services, mental Health services - inpatients and community, healthcare within the prison population of ABUHB, GP's and other non-statuary services that support clients with liver disease.The post holder will report to the Registered Nurse (CNS Hepatology/Hepatitis). They will be required to work without direct supervision of the CNS in areas of assessed competence.The post holder will be expected to train/educate those working within non-statutory agencies on aspects of liver disease.The post holder will Record all personally generated information in line with Aneurin Bevan Health Board(ABHB) policy for Record Keeping and Management of Health records ensuring accurate legible entries that comply to organisational and statutory requirements in a timely manner.
