Health Care Support Worker - Carn y Cefn Ward

Job summary

Following a review of the current inpatient structure, we are looking for caring and compassionate Health Care Support Workers to join the team at Carn y Cefn ward, in Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan.

As a Health Care Support Worker you will be working as part of the multidisciplinary team providing mental health support to adults in the inpatient ward, focusing on the direct needs of patients currently suffering a complex mental health concern.

The post holder will be expected to act at all times within the guidelines of the patients' care plan and within the supervision of senior support and Registered Mental Health Nurses responsible for the day to day activities during the rostered duty.

Carn y Cefn is an 11 bedded acute mental health ward serving the Blaenau Gwent Borough for patients from the age of 18 years to 65 years.

The ward works closely with the North Gwent Home Treatment Team who gate keep admissions and facilitate the patients early discharge back to the community. The ward works closely with the Community Mental Health Team and associated services within ABUHB and within the catchment area.

The position is primarily a full time post but flexible working hours will be considered.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply

Main duties of the job

Currently we are unable to provide certificates of sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the Home Office's criteria. Anyone requiring a certificate of sponsorship is therefore unable to be shortlisted and interviewed

Your main duties will be to support the Registered Mental Health Nursing staff in the delivery of Care Plans for service users ensuring appropriate interventions in the Care Plans are delivered.

To assist the development and implementation of therapeutic care packages and activities to meet the service user's individual needs, independence, interests and level of skill

To contribute to the promotion of health, psychological and social well being of the service user as directed by the multi-disciplinary team.
