Job summary
A exciting and unique opportunity has arisen within the Urology Directorate for a Band 6 Radiographer to support continuation and expansion of the Lithotripsy Service, and other urological diagnostic elements of the Urology service. The post holder will have DCR or BSc Radiography, extensive radiology experience. Knowledge and experience of Lithotripsy preferred. This Radiography element of the Urology service is a relatively new relationship as were previously managed under the Radiology Directorate/Service. The Band 7 & band 6 Radiographer enjoy a close working partnership with our Urology clinical team, including consultants, middle and junior grade clinicians, clinical nurse specialist and Directorate Management teams.
This is a unique post as it sits under the management of the Urology Directorate, whilst under professional management of the Radiology Service.

Main duties of the job
To support Lithotripsy Lead Radiographer, in the co-ordination of the Urology Lithotripsy and Radiology service.
To be responsible for their own workload including assisting with the management of appointments for Lithotripsy
To perform lithotripsy treatments in the lithotripsy suite and to perform Urological radiographic examinations in Urology theatre unit, and any other areas as required.
To participate in provision of Lithotripsy, performing high quality Lithotripsy treatments safely and accurately.
To work within the codes of practice and professional guidelines and have accountability for their own actions

To possess dexterity, co-ordination & sensory skills for positioning, and manipulating patients, equipment to fine tolerances, where accuracy is required for the positioning of radiation beams
To provide a specialist service, Implementing specialist diagnostic radiography and procedures across a range of clinical presentations.
To participate in the research, development and evaluation of new techniques in Lithotripsy/Radiology, in relation to the specialist service in consultation with radiology and other professional staff
Responsible for the safe use of expensive, highly complex specialist equipment
To supervise and contribute to education and teaching of others, including qualified colleagues, recently qualified radiographers, support workers, assistants and studentsTo maintain accurate records using CWS, ORMIS, RADIS etcTo participate in departmental QA programmes/audits and to interpret and investigate results as required.
