Job summary
The Pathology Governance manager is a key member of the Pathology directorate management team. They provide expertise and manage specific services within the directorate to ensure they are delivered effectively and efficiently in line with divisional strategic and operational objectives and national and local policy.The Pathology Governance manager is a strategic role, whereby the post holder will workalongside the Directorate Manager to plan & facilitate various programmes of work within Pathology.The post holder will oversee the Pathology Quality Management system (QMS), serviceregulation & accreditation pathology training and health & safety
Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead on maintaining ISO 15189 accreditation (as assessed by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS)), Blood Safety and Quality Regulations (BSQR) (as assessed by Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)) and Human TissueAct (HTA) compliance (as assessed by the Human Tissue Authority (HTA)) as appropriate. This responsibility will include a requirement to ensure that all resources are used efficiently and effectively to provide these services. The post holder will provide information and reports for Directorate, Divisional and Health Board meetings relating to training, quality, patient safetyand health & safety.The post holder will represent Pathology at organisational and national meetings and may be required to chair meetings or provide opinions/viewpoints based on experience and expertise.
This role involves close liaison with departmental, healthboard and national stakeholders.

To use the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills when dealing withpatients/clients concerns and complaints such as would be required when communicatingin a hostile or highly emotive atmosphere. The post holder will be expected to ensure any patient & user concerns and concerns,complaints and serious incidents are dealt with positively and promptly in partnership withappropriate colleagues, and to act with authority to resolve the issues raised in a timelyfashion. This may include issues of a sensitive or distressing nature. To advise clinical leads and pathology management on specific programmes of work withinthe directorate relating to accreditation, quality and regulatory standards, training, health& safety, patient safety and overall governance. This will include formally presentinginformation to large groups of senior clinical and managerial personnel inside theorganisation. Participate in regular Operational Management Team Meetings. To act as the Directorates clinical governance representative on behalf of the ClinicalDirector. Lead for the Pathology Directorate with clinical governance issues.
