Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Occupational Therapy Support Worker to join the Occupational Therapy service in ABUHB.
The post holder will work under the direction of a team of qualified, Occupational Therapists on Ty Cyfannol Adult inpatient ward, with outreach into the community.
The post holder will be expected to work Monday - Friday, with a variety of 7.5 hour shifts between 8am-8pm.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post, Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team providing OT interventions on the Adult inpatient unit; Ty Cyfannol. This ward supports adults with acute mental health needs and aims to offer the highest quality service to the patient group in a safe and supportive environment. Occupational Therapists work with people to establish the impact of their mental health problems on their day to day functioning in all areas of their lives, identifying what the person wants and needs to do, to have a meaningful day. The OT team will then devise interventions (one to one and group interventions, which includes facilitation of the 'Recovery Through Activity' programme) with the person to further assess, improve or maintain their functional ability. Interventions offered aim to maximise opportunities to engage in meaningful occupations and to address individual goals. The post holder will be required to work collaboratively across wide ranging third sector services and agencies to support a programme of recovery and social inclusion. The OT service is committed to delivering a high quality service and requires that all OT support workers participate in the Agored training programme which offers excellent opportunity for development. The successful applicant will: - have excellent communications skills, have the ability to think creatively and flexibly, and will be able to demonstrate empathy, compassion and the values of person-centred care.
