Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Practitioner Psychologist (Counselling or Clinical) to join the Adult Mental Health Speciality in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will support the continued development and provision of specialist psychological services to adults living in North Monmouthshire.
The post is advertised as Band 8a, but we would be willing to consider appointing a candidate under Annexe 21, with a negotiated developmental path and associated percentage of band 8a salary (see Annexe 21 documentation attached to advert). This would be with a clear plan of development to progress to Band 8a and you would be provided with all the experiences and supervision required to achieve this.

The ability to maintain good working relationships across multiple disciplines and areas of work is essential. In return, you will benefit from a supportive team which aims to nurture professional growth whilst ensuring a high standard of service provision.
This role will provide a chance to focus on an area of clinical expertise or special interest alongside developing broader relationships and partnerships to support service development and evaluation.

The North Monmouthshire psychology team has particular interests in EDMR, CBT & DBT. The wider team are trauma informed and are working to support the delivery of psychologically informed care as well as evidence-based interventions. The team are particularly keen for a Senior Psychologist to facilitate team formulation and lead an element of the clinical service, this role therefore provides a prime opportunity to strengthen leadership skills.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
