Job summary

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has a large and complex digital service estate that underpins the delivery of digital health care. Digital, Data & Technology supports around 16,000 users and over 200 services across more than 120 sites.

Your role is to operationalise and inform the strategy for digital service management, contributing to service strategy, design, transition and managing service operations, ensuring continuous service improvement methods are embedded. To ensure that Digital Services meet the needs of the users as well as managing and maintaining the Digital Service Catalogue you will be required to work closely with a professional community of service and practice leads and build transparent relationships within the heath board. Establishing service management boards and representing ABUHB interest both locally and nationally.

You will have formal line management responsibility for a dedicated team of digital services management staff consisting of range of technical support, practice, and service managers. You will be required to undertake regular PADR and team development and provide professional development, mentoring and support to your team.

You will need be an excellent communicator and influencer, allowing you to build and maintain strong relationships within the Directorate, wider Health Board and NHS Wales. This will allow you to manage, implement and maintain standardised ways of working by applying the principles of the ITIL framework.

Main duties of the job

  • Communicate Digital Service Management to a wide range of service stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Representing ABUHB at both local and national service management boards and other forums.
  • Negotiate, motivate, and influence teams to achieve service delivery excellence.
  • Develop and maintain the Digital Service Management strategy and contribute to the long-term strategic plan for the Directorate.
  • Working within the Digital, Data and Technology operating model and governance structure, receive assurance from projects that management arrangements for new services are appropriate and sustainable.
  • Lead on Operational Digital Service Management supporting the needs of the organisation through significant engagement with clinical professional community
  • Lead on the development and implementation of ITIL service management framework in Digital, Data & Technology.
  • Develop and implement appropriate policies to support improved Service Management practice across the Directorate.
  • Develop Service Management policies and procedures that will impact across the Directorate

Essential

  • ITIL4 Foundation plus at least one higher ITIL4 qualification (e.g. Practice Manager, Managing Professional or Strategic Leader)
  • Educated to master's degree level or equivalent demonstrable level of work experience and knowledge
  • You will have expert knowledge of ITIL Service Management and of its practical adoption in a Health and Care setting.
  • Strategic objectives relating to health care in Wales.

Desirable

  • Leadership training at equivalent or greater to ILM Level 5
  • PRINCE2 Foundation
  • Expert knowledge of ITIL Service Management adoption in NHS Wales.

Experience

Essential

  • ITIL Service Management and of its practical adoption in a Health and Care setting
  • Development of a digital service management function in a large complex organisation.
  • Highly developed specialist ITIL and ICT knowledge gained though formal training and experience.
