Job summary
The Royal Gwent Hospital (RGH) Pharmacy Service are looking for an enthusiastic individual with the motivation and skills to co-ordinate the dispensary activity and Pharmacy Assistant Medicines Management Service. The dispensary is a fast-paced and busy environment requiring an individual with good prioritisation skills and the ability to delegate.
In order to fulfil this role you must work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The successful candidate must also demonstrate excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills and the ability to lead a team.
RGH Pharmacy is a forward thinking and innovative department which utilises an automated robot dispensing system and constantly strives to improves methods of working.
The pharmacy department is dedicated to providing a high level of patient care and part of this is ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of medication.

Main duties of the job
To be responsible for co-ordinating the safe and accurate dispensing and distribution of medicines to patients, wards, departments, and other users. Work to be carried out under the control and direction of Senior Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists.
To use the Pharmacy and other computer systems to carry out all tasks in an accurate and timely manner. Ensuring a safe and efficient Pharmacy service can be provided whilst delivering the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.
To assist in the recruitment of staff, delivery of key performance indicators, production of rotas and error trend analysis.
To assist in the training provision to all staff within the Dispensary team.
To manage, supervise and co-ordinate Pharmacy Assistants including staff appraisal, work allocation, sickness management, staff appraisal, annual leave management and acting as appointment panel member.
To assist in the management and delivery of a near patient medicines management service to in patients admitted to wards on ABUHB, hospital sites.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
