Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Practitioner Psychologist (Counselling or Clinical) to join the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service within the Adult Mental Health Specialty in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will support the continued development and provision of specialist psychological services to mothers experiencing significant mental health difficulties and their families in ABUHB. We are looking for a dynamic and inspiring psychologist who can not only deliver high quality assessments, formulations and interventions but can help others do the same.

The post is advertised as Band 8a but we would also invite newly qualified applicants to apply and start the role on Band 7. This would be with a clear plan of development to progress to Band 8a and you would be provided with all the experiences and supervision required to achieve this.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate would be joining a friendly and welcoming multidisciplinary Perinatal Team as well as a cohesive Psychology specialty with a commitment to personal and professional development and a robust sense of professional identity. We have strong interests and highly specialist skills in a range of psychological therapies including CBT, DBT, VIG, EMDR and Couple Therapy and welcome applications from individuals who are keen to further develop their clinical expertise and their team working skills.

This is an exciting time to join a growing team and developing specialty. There will be many opportunities for training and service development on a local and national level in the field of perinatal mental health. In line with mental health division priorities and the national perinatal strategy we are finding innovative ways to improve access to psychological therapies for all families within the perinatal period and also taking a strategic approach to developing trauma informed services.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

This position is part time 22.5 hours (0.6 WTE) with the option of flexible working.
