Job summary
The Directorate of ENT covers the investigations and treatments of the Ear, Nose and Throat and diagnosis and management of Head and Neck Cancers. The Audiology department provide the full range of assessments including, new born hearing assessment, paediatric fitting, hearing therapy and Tinnitus retraining therapy. The ENT Departments staffs 8 Consultants, 2 SAS, 4 Specialty Trainees, 3 Core Trainees, 1 FP2 and 2 Clinical Fellow CT level. The ENT rota is a 1:7.
Main duties of the job
The post-holders will undertake a 6 to 12 month post in ENT participating in out-of-hours full shift rotas alongside other F2 doctors and core trainees, supported by appropriate senior cover.
The ENT Department covers the whole of Gwent. Inpatient will be in Grange University Hospital, day case and outpatients are provided at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport. Outpatient Clinics are also held at Nevill Hall and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr

There is an active education centre within the hospital and various courses are conducted for all grades. There will be opportunity to be involved in departmental audit and research projects, as well as undergraduate education.
The successful candidate will be subject to the same conditions as the deanery CT1 trainees, but this will not be specifically recognised for training.
