An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of an integrated multi-professional team providing community neurorehabilitation .The post holder will contribute to the provision of an assessment and rehabilitation service for patients recovering from stroke and acquired brain injury. Working within the ABUHB Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service, the post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes Clinical Psychologists, Neurophysiotherapists, Dietitian, Occupational Therapists, and Speech and language Therapists. The post holder will be expected to undertake face to face work with individuals and groups ,including significant others, and families, and consultation work advising staff on the psychological aspects of casework and patient management plans. They will also be expected to provide advice, training, and supervision of psychological work to less experienced psychologists, assistants, trainees.
The locations of clinical work will include, patient's own homes, hospital and outpatient sites, on-line, and in groups. The post holder will be expected to travel to other health board sites and to patient's places of residence.
Main duties of the job
To provide psychological services to adults with neurological conditions in the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service . Face to face work with individuals, groups, families, significant others, and consultation work advising staff of other disciplines on the psychological aspects of casework and patient management plans. It involves conducting psychological assessments and the delivery of appropriate therapeutic interventions for the full range of referred difficulties , as well as providing, developing and managing highly specialist interventions for own specialist area of the team's caseload. To provide specialist advice, training, and supervision of psychological work to less experienced psychologists, counsellors, assistants, trainees, other professionals, and carers. To conduct, supervise, and develop and evaluateclinical and psychological programmes.
To participate in research/ audit groups, as required by the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service. To co-ordinate the provision of a specialist area of the service, and contribute to the development of new psychological services and participate in service planning and development. To participate in the professional activities of the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service and the ABUHB Psychology Service. To gain further experience of Professional Issues and to become familiar with current strategic thinking in the NHS in general and Neuro Rehabilitation in particular.
