Job summary

The Cardiology Directorate are looking to recruit a fixed term Doctor for one year, to work within Cardiology , working closely with our heart failure team within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. The post will be based at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport, South Wales.

The main objective of the role is to increase the quality of care and improve equity of access to specialists care for the heart failure patients within Aneurin Bevan University Hospital Board. The new post has been created to support the expanding heart failure services within the Health Board.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the heart failure nursing team, and non-cardiology clinicians, with clinical management advice in an inpatient setting, through MDT, case reviews, ward round and evaluation of inpatient service. They will work closely with the heart failure team within a new ambulatory service supporting IV iron, IV diuretics and urgent reviews to reduce admissions to the 'front door'. Increasing the proportion of patients with heart failure being managed in accordance with the European Society of Cardiology 2021 chronic heart failure guidelines.

Educational opportunities are excellent with weekly medical meetings, cardiology grand rounds and Heart Failure meetings supported by Consultant Cardiologist and Consultant Nurse. The successful candidate will receive full training in Echocardiograms from Consultant Cardiologists and Highly Specialised Echocardiographers.
