Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1 x part time (22.5 hours) Occupational Therapy Support Worker to join the stroke occupational therapy team based in Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr Hospital in Ystrad Mynach.
We are looking for an individual who is skilled, organised, practical, enthusiastic, and compassionate to join a supportive team of Occupational Therapy staff dedicated to making a difference to individuals lives through the delivery of occupational therapy. The role will consist of a mix of clinical and administrative duties supporting the day-to-day provision of occupational therapy for people requiring rehabilitation and discharge planning following their hospital admission.
You will need to be someone who can demonstrate their ability to learn. You will be supported in your learning and development by the Occupational Therapy Support Worker Development Programme. This is a knowledge and competency based programme of education validated by AGORED which all occupational therapy support workers are expected to complete.
We offer regular supervision and an annual personal appraisal development review as an integral part of staff and service quality assurance and development.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of occupational therapy is to enable and encourage people to live meaningful lives as actively and as fully as possible. Working with individuals of all ages with a wide range of occupational problems, occupational therapists provide practical help and advice to assist individuals to take control of their lives through occupation and overcome the effects of disability.
Practice is based on holistic, person-centred care working in a collaborative way with individuals. Occupational therapy assessments and interventions are individualised and framed by a person's own life goals.
Applicants need to demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbal and written and interpersonal skills, along with basic IT skills and a Level III qualification or equivalent in a health/social care related topic.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
