Job summary
The Community Dental Service (CDS) in ABUHB is a Specialist and Salaried Dental Service providing Oral Health Care Services to vulnerable client groups in line with Welsh Health Circular 2022/022 (The role of the Community Dental Service). This is a Consultant in Special Care Dentistry post, base to be confirmed depending on service needs.
The post holder has the responsibility to provide Special Care Dentistry for vulnerable adults including conscious sedation and general anaesthesia within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB). The post holder may be asked to lead in the development and provision of oral care for vulnerable people in all areas of Special Care Dentistry across Gwent. The post holder will support and progress research and development for the Community Dental Service.
Main duties of the job
To provide and co-ordinate comprehensive services for vulnerable adults requiring Special Care Dentistry. This includes all aspects of clinical leadership, treatment and relevant management duties in order to carry this role
To promote the speciality of Special Care Dentistry both within the health board and to external organisations
To lead and co-ordinate appropriate CDS directorate research interests which will inform the delivery of Special Care Dentistry and Community Dental Services in accordance with the ABUHB Research and Development framework
To develop integrated oral care pathways by liaison with other healthcare providers and external agencies for vulnerable adult groups.
