Job summary

Replacement post in response cover leave for 6-9 months.

Number of core sessions - 10 (8 DCC/ 2 SPA), commitment to weekend rota (1:12 with prospective cover).

Applications are invited for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals to join our friendly and dynamic team within the Respiratory directorate at Aneurin Bevan University health Board. Part time / flexible working appointees will be considered. This is an exciting time to be joining us as we are reconfiguring services as part of clinical futures to develop truly integrated and patient centred respiratory services within our health board.

Main duties of the job

The Respiratory Directorate of ABUHB has 13 consultants, of whom 4 are based at Nevill Hall Hospital and 9 at the Royal Gwent/St Woolos hospitals, Newport. In addition there are acute physicians with interest in respiratory medicine providing subspecialty services. We provide medical thoracoscopy, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, and dedicated pleural procedure lists.

In view of the fact that the organisation is currently undertaking a review of its services and the locations at which they are undertaken, it is important to be aware that work patterns may change and the place(s) of duties modified.

With the opening of the Grange University Hospital in 2021 we envisage a specialist centre with seven day respiratory input, along with three local general hospitals 1 of which will have dedicated respiratory wards, and 1 with a Respiratory Ambulatory Care Unit, with 3pleural units providing elective and ambulatory services for our patients. We have also moved to a specialist respiratory on call rota for ABUHB providing telephone advice and review to our specialist centres and local general hospitals.
