Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Otorhinolaryngologist based at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport. The post will have responsibility in providing support and treatments for the Otolology service and Emergency and inpatient work in Grange University Hospital. The successful candidate will join the remaining Consultants in the provision of the routine ENT surgery services within the department.

The ENT Directorate has dedicated outpatient facilities in the Royal Gwent, Nevill Hall and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr Hospitals. The existing department in the Royal Gwent Hospital has been open for 22 years, with six consultation and two treatment rooms.

A full range ENT is carried out in the department, with a complement of 14 inpatient beds in Grange University Hospital and a dedicated day case theatres in the Royal Gwent Hospital. Close relationships are maintained with Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Restorative Dentistry, Radiotherapy, Pathology and Dermatological Departments. There is an active Postgraduate Centre.

The suitably qualified clinician will have the opportunity to join a 1:8 on call rota.

Main duties of the job
