Job summary
We are looking for a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) or very experienced Psychological Practitioner (RMN, Social Worker, OT) to join our Community Mental Health Team in Torfaen. Specifically, we are looking for practitioners that share our values of compassionate and person-centred care and doing what matters.
The successful candidate would be joining a cohesive Psychology team within the CMHT and will be supported in their role by a professional infrastructure consisting of Assistant Psychologists, Senior and Principal Psychologists. We are all part of a bigger specialty with a commitment to personal and professional development and a robust sense of professional identity. Within the team there is a range of highly specialist skills and accredited practitioners in CAT, DBT, MBCT, EMDR and CBT. The role therefore provides an opportunity for newly or recently qualified psychologist or practitioner to develop their skills in a safe, supportive environment surrounded by experienced colleagues.
This is an exciting time for Adult Psychology in ABUHB as we work to find innovative and sustainable ways of increasing access to Psychological Therapies. The Mental Health Division has made this a strategic priority.There are opportunities to contribute to the intention of increasing service user voice through a range of initiatives including developing peer mentor roles and using co-production as part of how we approach our work.
Main duties of the job
Alongside the Psychology Team and the Wider MDT to:
Provide highly specialist assessment of psychological distress and psychological needs
To be able to formulate the difficulties collaboratively with the patient and use this as a basis for a planned intervention
With consent, to share formulations with significant others including family, carers and other professionals where indicated
To provide and be supervised in high intensity and highly specialist psychological interventions
To support the supervision of colleagues including more junior members of the profession or those aspiring to be in the profession.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
