Newly qualified or experienced Physician Associates wanted to join our expanding team of Physician Associates at a caring, award-winning organisation and one of the largest Health Boards in Wales. As the first Physicians Associate within the Colorectal Team you will have the opportunity to shape your own role

In addition to a clinical supervisor in shift, PA's in General Surgery will benefit from a identified supervisor responsible for the development and training of the PA team.
We have invested in a Physician Associate Leadership model with the appointment of a Professional lead PA which brings further leadership opportunities. This gives the profession greater organisational exposure and ensures that professional standards are met whilst also supporting you to safely further your skills and representing your needs across and outside of the organisation.
Main duties of the job
The Physician Associate will be encouraged to develop and enhance their skill set with regular personal appraisals and opportunities for development.

You will need to have confidence to communicate and influence groups and individuals at all levels while remaining committed to providing excellent patient care.
- Working as a member of the colorectal surgical team
- Reviewing and assessing patients
- Undertaking both telephone and face to face clinics for patients referred with urgent suspected cancer
- Undertaking both telephone and face to face patient follow up clinics clinics
- Requesting outpatient investigations and reviewing results
- Helping to ensure investigation results are documented and acted upon
- Liaising with patients and relatives
- Liaising with other medical staff (eg. GPs, Radiology, Endoscopy)
- Assisting in theatre
