Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Theatre Manager within T&O Theatres at St Woolos Hospital. The Unit runs a seven day service for Elective Orthopaedic patients. The Unit has two very busy Elective Theatres and are situated next to the Orthopaedic Ward. The candidate must be a first level registered nurse /ODP and hold a post graduate qualification in a relevant degree and be willing to work towards MSc. It is essential to this role to be able to lead a team and have insight into team structure, dynamics and development. You must possess exceptional interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and have significant experience in managing a team. The ideal candidate should have substantial experience at Band 6 level within the clinical environment and be a highly motivated person with good communication and leadership skills. You will be expected to support the Senior Nurse and Directorate Manager in development of the Orthopaedic theatre team to support ABUHB in providing safe, quality patient care whilst also meeting the requirements of clinical futures.

There are four ABUHB sites with theatre departments which means there is a need for flexibility and at times there will be a requirement for cross site working. The successful candidate may be required or redeployed to work on other ABUHB sites as required.
Main duties of the job
They will have managerial responsibility for a team of Scrub, Recovery and Anaesthetic practitioners and will facilitate and oversee their training to enable them to provide high quality skilled care to patients undergoing elective surgery. There will be a requirement to work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and other healthcare professionals to facilitate this and to ensure that the clinical environment remains safe and has the required resources to deliver excellent and individualised patient care.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
