Job summary
An exiting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to join the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team on a full time basis, working as Best Interest Assessor (DoLs) on an 18 month secondment.
Main duties of the job
The Gwent Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLs) Team is an independent safeguarding team commissioned by the Supervisory Bodies of the five Gwent Local Authorities and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. The team is based within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and located at Mamhilad House Mamhilad Park Estate, Pontypool.
The successful candidate will be required across all LHB sites and will focus their work on in-patients within ABUHB where ABUHB acts as the DoLs supervisory body expected to work and travel across the whole of Greater Gwent and wider when necessary.
The Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards Team supports the Supervisory Bodies to meet their statutory obligations under Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (2009) (DoLS) by co-ordinating, undertaking Best Interests Assessments, completing reports for submission to the Supervisory Body when a request for an authorisations for a Deprivation of Liberty is requested by a Managing Authority (Hospitals and Care Homes).
The Team work specifically with people who lack capacity to consent to the arrangements made for their care or treatment, who require assessment to determine if their circumstances amount to a deprivation of liberty to protect them from harm and is deemed to be in their Best Interests.
