Job summary
The post holder will support the delivery of clinical health care services to adults and children attending Ophthalmic clinics and theatres within ABUHB.
Following training and achievement of competences, the post holder will contribute to the provision of Ophthalmic services by providing a high-quality service including diagnostic testing and performing a range of basic imaging tests and procedures for children and adult patients across a variety of sub-specialties under the direction of the Clinical Leads as well as providing reports and baseline evaluations for review by other clinical staff.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Ophthalmology Directorate for an Ophthalmic Assistant to join our Theatre/ Day Case team providing ophthalmic surgical care.
The position will be based in the Ophthalmic theatre / day case unit at the Royal Gwent Hospital.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide care for patients requiring all Ophthalmic specialities within the directorate (Glaucoma, medical retina, oculoplastic, general, cornea).
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be reliable, hard working and work well within a team. It would be an advantage to have previous theatre/ recovery or ophthalmology experience. The ideal candidate must be expected to demonstrate commitment to their own personal development and show keen interest in the future development of health care within Ophthalmology services.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
