Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the administrative work of the Gastroenterology and Medical Ambulatory Care Unit and the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Nurses based at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport. We are looking of an experienced administrative assistant or ward clerk, who is ready to undertake a new and evolving patient-facing role.
Tasks include front of house meet and greet, taking messages via telephone, face to face and via email, liaising with patients, medical staff and those in the wider health community as well as participating in the IBD MDT and ordering supplies.

Main duties of the job
Tasks include front of house meet and greet, taking messages via telephone, face to face and via email, liaising with patients, medical staff and those in the wider health community as well as participating in the IBD MDT and ordering supplies. Some duties of the role involve:
Locate, retrieve, track and deliver case notes within agreed timescales as required from hospital sites across the healthboard.
Answering, redirecting and management of telephone calls to GACU and IBD office.
Data entry - recording activity for patients that utilise the IBD patient hotline.
Create supplementary folders in accordance with agreed Health Record protocols and standards.
Ensure all case notes are in a good state of repair.
