An opportunity has arisen for a Permanent Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse on Ward D3East in the Royal Gwent Hospital
Candidates should be forward thinking, be able to demonstrate good clinical and assessment skills and able to manage the team in the absence of the ward sister. The ability to support the ward sister in managing the ward in a fast paced and challenging environment; to demonstrate excellent communication, decision-making and motivational skills along with patient centred care are essential qualities for this post.
You will need to demonstrate continuing professional development and have an understanding of how to improve and provide safe, quality care for patients and their relatives.

Main duties of the job
To function as a competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area. To deliver direct patient care whilst, co-ordinating and overseeing nursing practice.
To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty.
To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group.
To deputise for the ward/ department manager in his / her absence, driving forward evidence based practice and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.
Have a flexible approach to work to meet the needs of the service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
