As a Peer Mentor Development Worker, within the Peer Mentor Development Team you will be an ambassador of Peer Mentoring for the Health Board. Working to improve the understanding of peer mentoring whilst supporting the employment and ongoing development of Peer Mentor roles across Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. Working in the Development team, you will play an integral role in offering all peer mentors and employing teams support, supervision, consultation, and training throughout each phase of recruitment, employment, development, and evaluation of the role.
Due to being community services, it would be advantageous if you have a driving licence and access to your own transport but this is not essential.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Peer Mentor Development Worker will:
- Be an ambassador of well-being for the Health Board to teams internally, external agencies and partner organisations.
- Improve understanding of peer mentoring across Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, working with key stakeholders in these services to identify potential challenges and benefits of peer support.
- Adapt peer mentor training resources for specialist groups (children, older adults experiencing mental health difficulties and individuals with learning disabilities).
- Co-develop and co-deliver training to prospective peer mentors.
- Support the ongoing development of Peer Mentor roles across the Health Board, considering the particular needs of the service in which they are working.
- Develop supervision/support packages for Peer Mentors.
- Deliver team preparation training to clinical teams to ensure that Peer Mentors are used effectively and appropriately within their service, embedding recovery principles within the service setting.
- Support the development and implementation of the Peer Mentor Strategy including evaluating and auditing the role across the Health Board to support the continued development of Peer Mentors.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
