Job summary

The Associate Practitioner in Audiology will provide interventions with routine / non complex hearing pathologies / disabilities. This will involve assisting with developing the individual care / management plan with appropriate accountability to the Audiologist. The Associate Audiologist is NOT an independent practitioner and clinical supervision and mentoring will be required during the normal schedule of the working day. The Associate Practitioner will have appropriate education, training and skills in hearing testing and fitting of hearing aids, and will work to locally and nationally agreed protocols in conjunction with scope of practice and accountability.

Main duties of the job

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM STAFF CURRENTLY EMPLOYED BY ANEURIN BEVAN UNIVERSITY HEALTH BOARD.

To provide and assist with basic adult hearing aid rehabilitation and (under supervision) to help deliver the patient individual management plan. The post holder will be expected to perform routine audiological investigations such as puretone audiometry, tympanometry, aural impressions and adjustments to the programming of hearing aid systems including real ear measurements under local clinical supervision or mentoring programmes. They will also be expected to carry out domiciliary visits to housebound patients and visit patients on hospital wards to carry out hearing aid maintenance, adjustment or ear mould impressions.

Associate audiologists will recognise their own limits of competence and levels of responsibility and autonomy at all times within the approved scope of practice. They will maintain their personal competence and work as a reflective practitioner in order to deliver high quality client care.
